Cotton
Cotton in furniture: Soft, breathable and absorbent, with a dry hand feel.
Cotton appears across 14 product families and 38 options, especially on Duvet & Pillow Sets, Duvets, Mattress Protectors, Pillows and Rugs.
Chemistry and structure
Cotton fibres are almost entirely cellulose. That chemistry gives them a matte natural look, good breathability and high moisture absorption.
Because the fibre readily takes up water, oils and dyes, cotton feels comfortable against skin but also tends to stain, wrinkle and wear faster than tighter performance synthetics.
How it behaves in furniture
Cotton works best where softness and natural tactility are more important than maximum abrasion resistance: cushions, removable covers, bedroom textiles and some rugs.
For heavy-use seating it often performs best as part of a blend, where synthetic fibres improve recovery and stain resistance without losing the soft surface character.
Care and design watch-outs
Moisture and wear note: Absorbs moisture readily, so it can hold spills and dry more slowly than hydrophobic synthetics.
Care note: Vacuum regularly and treat spills early to limit staining and moisture retention.
